Birmingham City entered their second season in the third division in search of promotion, however they finished off a disappointing campaign in a poor 12th position finish. It was not until the 1991 – 1992 campaign when Birmingham really put on some great performances and were convincing in the third division, gaining promotion s they finished the c campaign off in second position.
Birmingham had a disappointing campaign during the 1992 – 1993 season as they finished off the term in a disappointing 19th position finish, narrowly escaping demotion back into o the third tier of English football. They were eliminated out of the cup competitions very early as they crashed out of the FA Cup and league cup in the first round as they suffered defeats against Reading FC and Exeter City in the cup competition.
The 1993 – 1994 season saw the blues struggle in the first division, suffering a disappointing 22nd position finish, which in turn demoted the club back into o the third tier of English football.
