Birmingham City was the first ever football club to become a limited company and were the original member’s of the second division. They won the second division at their first attempting 1893. They reached the quarter finals of the FA Cup in 1898 and 1900. They gained promotion in to the first division in 1903 and spent five years in the top flight until 1908. They gained promotion back in to the top flight in 1922 and went on to spend over 25 years playing in that tier. They reached the final of the 1931 FA Cup. They reached the final once again in 1956, it was a season widely regarded by many supporters as their best. They finished the campaign off in sixth position in the first division and reached the final of the FA Cup, suffering a 3-1 defeat against Manchester City. The club boasted many fine players during their early years, including, Joe Bradford, Frank Womack and Malcolm Page.
Harry Storer, Bob Brocklebank, Arthur Turner and Pat Beasley all had spells managing the club between 1946 and 1960.
